A Letter from Jesse Clayton

I’m honored to announce that I’ll be stepping into the keyboardist role with The Werks, a band I’ve known and respected since their early days. This opportunity comes with great responsibility, as I follow in the footsteps of the incredibly talented Dan Shaw, who has been an integral part of the band for the past 11 years. He has an undeniable skill set and a sixth sense for intertwining classical and psychedelic sounds. Dan’s contributions are a testament to the band’s enduring legacy, and I’m excited to carry that forward and build upon the foundation he has helped create.

I’ve known these guys for years. We met in 2007 and have shared the stage many times. This transition marks a meaningful moment as the band approaches their 20th anniversary and I’m looking forward to contributing to their evolution and celebrating this remarkable 20-year journey. It’s been a great year exploring our potential together. Houser brings a ferocious and elegant style of performance to the table. Rob has helped lead the band from its origins and his ability to structure improvisation opens so many doors. Chuckie keeps the low-end locked in and creates a space to explore. Following our last few sit-ins I think it’s safe to say we all really compliment each other.

Directly out of high school I began professional touring with The Macpodz and it played a significant role in shaping my journey in the touring world—not just through the music, but also through the meaningful relationships built along the way.  It’s also how I first connected with The Werks, and after years of touring together, things have come full circle in 2024.  I have a rich history of collaboration including opening a live electronic set for Com Truise, working with members of Frank Zappa and the Jerry Garcia band, jams with Antwaun Stanley of Vulfpeck, creating an immersive electronic experience with Joel Cummins of Umphrey’s McGee at Summer Camp, and composing music for film/trailers alongside Grammy nominated artist Cymek. My individual sound explores electronic landscapes but my background spans across genres.

I’m grateful to Rob Chafin, Chris Houser, and Chuckie Love for trusting me to join their journey, and I look forward to collaborating, creating, and connecting with the fans who make this all possible. Together, we’ll continue to bring The Werks’ vibrant  and communal energy to life, both on and off the stage.

Thank you for your support as we begin this new chapter together!
